Changing official residency

European citizens

The following information about how to change official residency is meant for citizens from other European countries who either already have official residency in another part of Italy or in another country.
These citizens are required to come to a registry office (Ufficio Anagrafe) with their passport or equivalent document and a series of other documents depending on whether the person in question is working, studying, etc.

Change your official residency (european citizens)

Once the procedure is complete, citizens receive an ID card. This ID card is not valid for foreign travel.

Non-European citizens

The following information about how to change official residency is meant for citizens from outside the EU who either already have official residency in another part of Italy or in another country.
These citizens are required come to a registry office (Ufficio Anagrafe) with their passport or equivalent document, their entry visa for Italy (sometimes requested) and their permit to stay in Italy.
