Sports in Florence
The city of Florence considers the possibility to practice sport a right for all its citizens, a way to socialize and to include people in the society, a way to improve the quality of life and one’s physical and mental well-being.
Within the city, many different kinds of sports can be practiced in municipal facilities, which are managed directly by the city or by sports clubs, but also by private institutions.

The Campo di Marte area in particular has many different sports facilities, such as swimming pools, a football stadium, athletics fields, baseball fields, etc.

Free sports facilities
Many public parks and gardens in Florence are equipped with sports facilities. These facilities can be used freely and are accompanied by signs explaining how to use them and which exercises can be performed.
Florence, the Walking City
On the hills south of the city, 7 different routes have been created, suitable for walking, jogging and hiking. All depart from and return to the sports complex ASSI Giglio Rosso. Itineraries include the beautiful areas of Piazzale Michelangelo, San Miniato, Forte Belvedere, Arcetri and Pian dei Jesters. The paths are all visible on the map and are marked with different colors.
