Tourist coach entry

The Florence Tourist Ecoprogram Buspass is the system that regulates tourist coaches entering, driving and parking in the city. Bookings are required and a fee has to be paid. When approaching the city border, tourist coaches are required to stop at the following Check Points:

  • Firenze Nord - Viale XI Agosto (everyday from 7:30 am - 7:30 pm – tel. +39 055 4040650;  +39 055 4040651)
  • Firenze Sud - Via Visconti Venosta (everyday from 7:30 am - 7:30 pm - tel. +39 055 4040670; +39 055 4040671)
Buses are allowed to enter the ZTL BUS (bus traffic restricted area) only when provided with one of the following permits which should always be kept on board and have to be shown on request.

Permits

Permit A
  • Valid until midnight of the day of issue if passengers are not staying at a hotel in the city. It allows you to drive in the ZTL BUS but not in the historic centre, unless differently specified in the permit;
  • Valid until 7:00 pm of the day after its issue or of the last day of stay if passengers are being accommodated at a hotel in the city. It allows you to drive in the ZTL BUS only to reach the hotel. It allows you to stop there for the time needed to drop off and pick up passengers and their luggage at the hotel.
  • Allows you to stop only for dropping off and picking up passengers in the following set places near the historic centre: lungarno Pecori Giraldi, via La Pira (only drop off), piazzale Michelangelo, viale Ariosto, viale Machiavelli, piazza Torquato Tasso and viale Strozzi (lane 16).
Permit B
This kind of permit includes what authorized by Permit A, with a reduction of 20% of the amount due, since it does not entitle you to stop in lungarno Pecori Giraldi and in via La Pira. The only stops allowed are therefore those in viale Ariosto, piazzale Michelangelo, viale Machiavelli, piazza Torquato Tasso and viale Strozzi (lane 16).

Permit C
For authorized city sightseeing bus companies/operators only.

Permit D
For authorized city sightseeing bus companies/operators only.

Permit E
It allows you to drive in the ZTL and to stop near your destination only for dropping off and picking up passengers going to/coming from Florence airport, Florence train stations, trade fairs and hotels located in the city. It's allowed to enter the historic centre, and through the shortest route, only if the hotel or the fair venue is located there.

Drop off and pick up of passengers

The following areas are designated for dropping off and picking up passengers (with the exception of via La Pira which is a drop off-only area), in the spaces indicated on the ground:
  • via la Pira: Drop off only. From 9 am to 5 pm (max. stop 5 minutes). Transit in via Cavour (Libertà-Dogana section), via Dogana, via la Pira, and via la Marmora is therefore not permitted outside of these hours;
  • lungarno Pecori Giraldi: 24 hours a day (max. stop 20 minutes);
  • viale Ariosto: on the Mura ('wall') side, 24 hours a day (max. stop 10 minutes);
  • viale Machiavelli: near via Farinata degli Uberti on the Scuderie ('stables') side, 24 hours a day (max. stop 10 minutes);
  • viale Filippo Strozzi: on the railway side, near the access ramp to Platform 16 of the main station, 24 hours a day (max. stop 10 minutes);
  • piazza Torquato Tasso, side garden neighbourhood avenue (max. stop 10 minutes).

Parking lots for buses

The following unguarded paid parking lots, have been reserved for tourist buses provided with a pass:
  • viale XI Agosto: in the pre-existing bus parking area, 24 hours a day;
  • viale Nervi: at the intersection with viale Paoli, 24 hours a day (this parking area is not accessible during sport events in the municipal stadium);
  • via Palazzeschi: in the area on the corner of via della Torre, 24 hours a day;
